Spanien-Kreuz in Silber mit Schwertern by Otto Schickle of Pforzheim. The Silver Spanish Cross with Swords was awarded in recognition for exceptional service as a volunteer in the fight for Spanish freedom. It is a multi-piece construction made out of a die struck tombak base that has been silver washed with frosted highlights and finished in a protective lacquer coating. The obverse depicts a convex pebbled Maltese style cross with two crossed broad swords and four Luftwaffe eagles to each corner, that has an encircled (separately soldered on) mobile swastika to the center. The full back concave reverse has a soldered on catch, soldered on block hinge and coke bottle pin, all of which are in well working condition. The detail and patina are beautiful! A nice finish to it. It measures 2 3/16 inches wide and tall. Nice!
