Well here we have a nice matching example of a Municipal Police Bayonet by Paul Weyersberg! The factory shortened plated bade on this one has minor age the worse of which is to the reverse tip. I have not tried to clean this. The stamped maker mark is nicely executed! The blade rates a solid Exc+. The black municipal leather scabbard body has the odd scuff and age crazing . et it remains nice and dark. It looks to me like someone at some point applied some shoe polish to even out the finish. The stitching is all intact. The four vertical lines running through it giving it that finishing touch of German detail! The nickel-silver based and plated scalloped scabbard fittings have nicely patinaed with age. There is honest wear and they could use a cleaning. The reverse of the top fitting is unmarked matching the reverse of the crossguard. The scabbard snugly fits the brass based hilt. The hilt matches the scabbard in color, wear and patina. It depicts burnished detail throughout, with the oak leaves, acorns and highly detailed pommel eagle! The multi-toned stag grip plates are tightly secured with two aluminum rivets. The centrally placed aluminum police eagle is properly pinned. This one has a replacement 1942 dated K98 frog. We often see this as the original frogs were not very strong. This is nicely finished with a NM police portepee. A nice example of a matching police bayonet! Snatch it up before someone else does!
