Eickhorn Prince Eugen Pattern Field Marshal Sword

This pattern was an favored of SS officers! The 33 inch plated blade on this one looks excellent! The plating gives it an attractive mirror like finish! The stamped "Original Eickhorn Solingen" maker mark is beautifully executed! The tip and fit are both perfect as well! The blade rates an easy NM! It shows the common surface scratches throughout. It continues to retain its original brown/red leather buffer pad. The steel based, black enamel painted scabbard looks good. It shows minor paint loss from normal period wear yet retains 90% of its original paint! It continues to have both throat retaining screws and remains completely dent free! The scabbard to hilt fit is perfect. This very distinctive and beautiful "P" guard hilt is constructed out of an alloy base that has been gold gilded. Take a look at that foul looking eagle on the crossguard, now compare it to the 4th pattern Army dagger or even the TENO! Obviously Casberg, their artist had a love of this eagle! The black celluloid over wood a based grip looks wonderful! It remains chip and crack free! There is one of the 3 aluminum wires that is broken/part missing. It also retains all of its triple wire wrap. This example is illustrated in Angolia's reference pg 82/83. There is also another pic of it in Witty's SS reference with an SS guy. The end of the crossguard terminates with a swirl. Both the back-strap and the knuckle bow are ornately decorated. Check out the pommel eagle!!
