XI Olympic Games Porcelain Bell in Issue Case by KPM

Modell der Olympia Glocke designed by Walter E. Lemcke and manufactured by Koenigliche (Staatliche) Porzellan Manufaktur (KPM – Royal (State) Porcelain Factory) of Berlin. Available as a commemorative piece for the 1936 Olympic Games. It is constructed out of a two-piece (bell and clapper) molded white porcelain base with an adjoining S hook, seated on a black painted wooden stand and housed, with tied white sting, in its issue pressed cardboard and paper case. The bell features a stylized national eagle clutching the Olympic rings in its talons, beside “1.-16 August” and “1936” (flanked by two oak leaves) with the Brandenburg Gate to the back. The base of the bell reads: “Ich rufe die Jugend der welt - 11.Olympische Spiele Berlin” (I call the youth of the world - 11th Olympic Games Berlin). The inside of the bell features a clapper, a small inscribed S and the cobalt blue scepter KPM manufacturer marking. The bell sits on top of a wooden black painted stand which is tied to and housed in its issue pressed cardboard case. The two-piece (base and lid) case features; the Olympic bell above “XI. Olympiade Berling 1936” to the front, “Staatliche Porzellan Manufaktur Berlin” (With the end of the monarchy in 1918, the KPM became the State Porcelain Manufactory Berlin) to the back and “Modell der Olympia Glocke von W. E. Lemcke” to the top. The case shows minor scuffs, the bell and wooden stand are in minty condition. The case measures 5 1/8 inches wide, 5 1/8 inches deep and 6 inches tall.
