A M1937 2nd Model Luftwaffe Dagger (Fliegerdolch) by Carl Eickhorn of Solingen. The blade on this one looks great. The acid etched “Original Eickhorn Solingen” maker mark is dark, crisp and beautifully executed. The crossgrain is nicely visible as you shine it in the light. The fit is nice and tight and the tip comes to a perfect point. The blade on this one rates Exc+. It shows spotting/spidering throughout and the typical runner rest marks. The original blue pebbled leather buffer pad remains intact. The steel based plated scabbard looks great! It depicts awesome details throughout the random pebbling, oak leaves and acorns. It remains completely dent free and the two headless throat retaining screws remain intact! The burnished aluminum Luftwaffe eagle crossguard has amazing detail to its head, feathers, wings and top side hand enhanced oak leaves and acorns. The steel ferrule and pommel looks excellent as well with some hand enhancing to the edges and nice detail. The trylon grip has aged to a pleasing orange with time. It has a wee 5mm crack to the side-top, but that’s it. The aluminum springy wire wrap remains tightly intact. A nice example!
