Cased Stahlhelmbund Membership Badge 1932

A Weimar Diensteintritts-und Traditionsabzeichen Stahlhelmbund im Etui. Introduced November 13, 1933 by Franz Seldte, members of the Stahlhelmbund would receive this membership/traditions badge, featuring the date they joined to the obverse. It is constructed out of a die struck two piece alloy base that has been silver washed and contains black enamel and black paint work, under a protective lacquer coating. The round shaped obverse features the Stahlhelmbund emblem, a silvered M16 style helmet that is marked, in black, with an Iron Cross and “Der Stahlhelm” in gothic script, above two silvered crossed oak leaves and “1932”. This all lies on a black base which is surrounded by a thin silvered border. The reverse is marked (embossed) “STH”, “Ges. Gesch.” and “588” (in black ink). It also shows a soldered on round plate round wire catch, soldered on pad foot sheet metal hinge 9that are both surrounded by a dotted pattern) and coke bottle pin, all of which are in well working condition. The enamel has a wee 1mm chip to the righthand side, yet remains 99% intact. The silvering looks excellent! It measures 1 3/16 inches in diameter. This piece comes housed in its issue case. The case is constructed out of pressed cardboard that has been covered in a faux blue leather. The case measures 1 ¾ inches wide by 1 ¾ inches long by 5/8 of an inch thick. Rare to find the case!
