A Veterans NSKOV Mützenadler The NSKOV (National Sozialistische Kriegsopferversorung - National Socialist War-disabled-support Organization), was formed in 1930 and institutionalized in 1933, as an associated society assisting NSDAP party members who had become disabled as a result of war injuries. It is constructed out of a die stamped nickel-silver base that has been silver washed and contains red and black paint work. The obverse depicts a larger closed winged eagle clutching a bannered “NSKOV” in its talons and has, on its chest, the NSKOV logo, which consists of a mobile swastika (on a red circular base) in front of a back cross and a vertical broad sword, and is all surrounded by a laurel leaf wreath. The hollow back reverse retains three flat wire tombak prongs. It measures 1 15/16 inches wide and tall. Nice paint and silver wash remain!
