Straight from the vet’s family! A Model 1933 SS Dagger (Schutzstaffel Dienstdolch) by Robert Klaas of Solingen. The blade on this one is stunning! The acid etched “Meine Ehre Heißt Treue” motto and kissing cranes “Robert Klaas Solingen” maker mark are both dark, crisp and beautifully executed! They truly provide a wonderful contrast to the bright minty blade! The full crossgrain is stunning as you shine it in the light! The blade is nicely seated up against the hilt and the and the tip comes to a perfect point. The blade rates a solid NM! It shows the slightest traces of spotting, age grey and surface scratches and I’m being anal. The steel based black anodized scabbard looks great. It retains a nice dark black finish. There is some oxidization spotting throughout. It continues to remain completely dent free! The scalloped nickel-silver based scabbard fittings look good. They show nice age patina. The ball is split and looks to have been slightly repaired. All four scabbard screws remain intact, one is oxidized. The scabbard to crossguard fit is perfect! The nickel-silver crossguards look excellent as well, matching the crossguards perfectly in color and patina. The reverse of the lower crossguard is stamp “I” (Munich). The black died hardwood grip is in great condition! There are a couple of chips and flakes to the edges bottom. It is still way better than most of these early ones we come across! The solid nickel-silver eagle is wonderfully detailed and has a perfect fit. The SS roundel retains 95%+ of its enamel and has a perfect fit! This one comes with a vertical hanger. The hanger has lost the bottom strip. It is maker marked and the clip works well. A beautiful blade!
