A M1937 2nd Model Luftwaffe Dagger (Fliegerdolch) by Carl Eickhorn of Solingen. The more desirable plated blade on this one looks great. The stamped “Original Eickhorn Solingen” maker mark is crisp and beautifully executed. The plating gives the blade a nice mirror like finish! The fit is nice and tight and the tip comes to a perfect point. The blade on this one rates Exc++/NM. It shows surface scratches throughout. The original leather buffer pad remains intact. The steel based airplane grey scabbard looks great! It depicts awesome details throughout the random pebbling, oak leaves and acorns. It remains completely dent free and the two headless throat retaining screws remain intact! The burnished aluminum Luftwaffe eagle crossguard has amazing detail to its head, feathers, wings and top side embossed oak leaves and acorns. The steel ferrule and pommel look excellent as well. The trylon grip has aged to a pleasing orange with time. It has several hits and two cracks and a chip to the top. The aluminum springy wire wrap remains tightly intact. Minor loss to the rolling towards the top. A nice example!
