A M1938 2nd Model Navy Dagger (Kriegsmarine Dolch) by F. W. Höller of Solingen. The acid etched blade on this one is a bit tired. The motif etching displays a sailing ship two both sides along with an anchor. The etched “F. W. Höller Solingen” maker mark looks good. The tip comes to a perfect point and the fit is nice and tight! The blade on this one rates Exc. It shows heavy age grey/spotting throughout and has been lightly cleaned. It has a replacement orange felt buffer pad. The lightning bolt style scabbard is brass based and gold gilded. It depicts wonderful details especially with the hand enhancing towards the tip. It has a few pressure marks throughout. Both throat retaining screws remain intact and unturned. The push button continues to work well and tightly secures the scabbard to the hilt. The crossguard and pommel are brass based and gold gilded. The fouled anchors to the crossguard and proudly perched kriegsmarine eagle pommel are beautifully detailed! The original (non-textbook Holler) grip is wood based and covered in white celluloid. It has two wee cracks to the top sides. The brass springy wire wrap remains tightly intact! A fine piece.
