A German Cross in Silver Award Document. This would accompany the award. It is constructed out of a pressed paper base with silver foil and red ink. The rectangular shaped obverse shows a silver German cross above, in red; “Im Namen Des Führers und obersten Befehlshabers der Wehrmacht verleihe ich dem”, “Das Deutsche Kreuz in Silber”, “Hauptquartier. Den Oberkommando des Heeres”, “Generalfeldmarschall”. There is a black ink stamp to the bottom left hand corner that reads: “Waffen SS 6. SS-Geb.-Div. (mot)” (6. SS-Gebirgs-Division "Nord"). In my opinion the Waffen SS stamp has been added after the war in an attempt to increase the value.. The reverse shows a strip of tape to hold the tear from getting larger. There are several light fold marks along with three tears. The largest running through the cross. It measures 10 1/8 inches wide by 14 inches tall. A rare document.
