Silver Wound Badge by 92 with Issue Packet

A Veteran Bring Back Group - Verwundetenabzeichen in Silber mit der Papiertüte by 92 - Josef Rücker & Sohn of Gablonz. The silver wound badge was awarded to those who were wounded three or four times by hostile action (including air raids), or frostbitten in the line of duty. It is constructed out of a die struck zinc base that has been silver washed and lacquered. The oval shaped obverse depicts an embossed profile of a mobile swastika, above an M35 pattern helmet, which is above two crossed broad swords. This then lies on a pebbled field and is surrounded by a laurel leaf and berry wreath which is tied together at the bottom with a bow tie. The full back reverse is maker marked “92” and has the correct steel round wire pin, soldered on nickel-silver c-shaped catch and soldered on nickel-silver block hinge. All of the components are in well-working condition The silver wash has minor zinc absorption and still looks great. The badge measures 1 3/4 inches high by 1 1/2 inches wide. The award comes housed in its matching original packet. The rectangular packet is constructed out of green pressed paper that has been glued together. The obverse has a centrally placed black ink identification stamp, which reads: “Verwundeten Abzeichen Silber” (Silver Wound Badge). The reverse has is correctly maker marked, within a rectangular border, in black ink reading: “Josef Rücker & Sohn Gablonz” matching the badge. It shows fold marks and crevasses. The packet measures 4 1/8 inches tall by 2 5/16 inches wide. This piece came in as a part of a veteran lot inside an envelope dated “May 23 1945” which I’m including along with; a handwritten letter from the lady I purchased it from (I believe it is his daughter), a 20 reichsbanknote 1929, a WWII US cottar disk, a stamp and a slip of paper.
