A WH Heeres Schirmmütze für Offiziere der Infanterie by Josef Romsof of Berlin. It is constructed out of quality field grey wool, with a dark green center band and white waffenfarbe piping. Attached to the obverse is a die stamped, aluminum based, silver washed 2nd pattern army cap eagle and a multi piece tricolor cockade and rolled and twisted silver bullion wreath, that has been stitched to the cap. To the sides are two peened on multi piece aluminum/steel silvered pebbled side buttons that hold the silver aluminum officers chin cord in place. The front also features a black lacquered visor peak with a cross hatched light brown underside. The interior features a tan sweatband with decorated perforations to the forehead and a silk bowtie to the back. The underside of the sweat band is marked, in back ink: “Geprüft 6./J.R. 55.” and sized “55”. Underneath the sweat band is a rigid tan edge that is torn to one side. The base of the lining has several torn spots and a clear moisture shield (a few minor cracks) over, in silver: “Stirndruckfrei Deutsches Reichspatent”. There is age wear throughout and mothing to the exterior. A fine Visor.
