A M1937 2nd Model Luftwaffe Dagger (Fliegerdolch) by Carl Eickhorn of Solingen. Sold this one well over 10 years ago and was fortunate enough to get it back! The blade on this one looks excellent. The acid etched “Original Eickhorn Solingen” maker mark is dark, crisp and beautifully executed. The crossgrain is beautiful and is easily visible the entire length. The fit is nice and tight and the tip comes to a perfect point. The blade on this one rates NM/Mint-. It shows minor surface scratches and the odd spot. The original leather buffer pad remains intact. The steel based airplane grey scabbard looks great! It depicts awesome details throughout the random pebbling, oak leaves and acorns. There is one pressure mark to the obverse, minor oxidization spotting and some calcification throughout. This scabbard is typically found on SMF’s and this is how I got it. The burnished aluminum Luftwaffe eagle crossguard has amazing detail to its head, feathers, wings and top side etched oak leaves and acorns. The steel ferrule and hand enhanced pommel look excellent as well. The trylon grip has aged to a pleasing orange with time. You can see a light portion to the bottom where a portepee would have been. The aluminum springy wire wrap remains tightly intact. A solid example!
