A 1st Model Luftwaffe Fliegerdolch by SMF (Solinger Metallwarenfabrik Stoecker & Co.) of Solingen. The blade on this one looks good. The stamped “SMF Solingen” maker mark is nicely executed. The plating on this gives it a mirror like finish. The fit remains nice and tight and the tip comes to a nice point! The blade rates an Exc+ It has one nick/catche to the cutting edge, shows surface scratches throughout. The original blue pebbled leather buffer pad continues to remain intact. The wood based blue pebbled, leather scabbard body looks great! It shows the odd scuff and one wee hole to the seam. 97%+ of the leather coverage remains intact. The silvered aluminum scalloped scabbard fittings remain in nice condition. The fittings are tightly secured with all five original screws! The brass chain has 15 lower and 10 upper ringlets that ends at a well working “DRGM” marked clip. The hilt looks excellent! The four brass gilded sun wheel swastikas are just beautiful! The grip leather matches the scabbard quite nicely! It shows period age toning. The dual twisted wire wrap remains tightly intact. It shows verdigris to the crevases. A nice piece.
