A Model 1933 Schutzstaffel Dienstdolch by Herder of Solingen. The blade on this one is gorgeous! The acid etched “Meine Ehre Heißt Treue” motto and “Rich Abr Herder Solingen” maker mark are both crisp and beautifully executed! The crossgrain is easily visible as you shine it in the light. The blade to crossguard fit is perfect, as is the tip. The blade rates an Exc++. There is the odd age area along with surface scratches throughout. The steel based black period repainted scabbard is gorgeous as well! It remains completely dent free, holds a smooth heavy lacquer finish with a bit of spidering. No oxidization! A beauty! The scalloped nickel-silver based scabbard fittings look excellent! The ball holds a nice round shape and all four scabbard screws remain intact. The scabbard to crossguard fit is perfect! The nickel-silver crossguards look excellent as well, matching the crossguards perfectly in color and patina. The reverse of the lower crossguard is stamp “I” (Munich). The chip-free, black, died, hardwood grip is in good condition! I can see one crack just above the roundel and some scrapes, scratches and pressure marks, exactly what we like to see on original daggers. Really it is way better than most of these early ones we come across! The solid nickel-silver eagle is wonderfully detailed and has a perfect fit. The SS roundel retains 90%+ of its enamel! If your looking for a "dirty girl" this one is the one for you!
