A solid Eickhorn with all the accoutrements! The blade on this one is fine. The maker mark is nicely executed as is the Inspector mark just about it. The crossgrain remains visible as you turn it in the light. The blade on this one rates an Exc++. The original leather pebbled buffer pad remains intact. The steel based, "airplane gray" plated scabbard looks great! It depicts awesome details throughout, with the random pebbling, oak leaves and acorns. It has a dent on both sides to the very bottom, like it was slammed in a door. The scabbard edge is cracked 2" to the inside edge. One of the retaining screws is lost to time. The burnished aluminum Luftwaffe eagle crossguard has amazing detail to its head, feathers, wings and top side engraved oak leaves and acorns. The pommel and ferrule are also beautifully detailed with the proudly displayed swastika, oak leaves and acorns! The early trylon grip has cracks and small chips, the worse of which are covered with the portepee. The aluminum springy wire wrap remains tightly intact. The portepee has waht looks like a period repair and has some fine thread around the cord. The hangers clips remain in working condition. The cloth has been period repaired and you can see the sewing job if you look hard. A nice Vereral obtained example at a reasonable price.
