Army Infantry EM Visor

Please note this item is no longer available and you were redirected to our Archives.

Standard issue visor cap with field-grey wool body and crown with a subtle whipcord weave. The crown has 2 burn holes and someone burned, (perhaps with a cigarette) a swas. Cap features a blue/green badge cloth centerband and white rayon waffenfarbe to crown edge and top and bottom edges of centerband. Front center of cap has a stamped, second pattern, natural aluminum, national eagle and front center of centerband has a second pattern, stamped, alloy oak-leaf wreath encompassing a three piece, high relief, national tri-color cockade all intact. The wreath is broken at the bottom and looks like it was glued together at some point. Blackened patent leather chinstrap intact with two black painted, rectangular, length adjustment buckles. Chinstrap is secured to cap by two, small, smooth finish, black painted, magnetic sheet metal buttons. The strap is very thin, so may be a replacement. It has some age crazing and, if it's a replacement, it looks period to me. Black vulcanfibre visor with raised lip near forward edge. Interior of cap is fully lined in orangish/tan oilcloth. Celluloid sweat diamond is missing. Crown lining has black ink-stamped sizing beneath the sweat diamond, "55". Interior of cap also has a wide sweatband. So no, not the best example out there but priced right and great for display.
