A Type 6 - Flugzeugführer und Beobachterabzeichen by Friedrich Linden of Lüdenscheid. The Pilot / Observer badge was to be awarded to personnel who qualified as both a pilot and observer. It is a two piece die struck zinc based construction that has been silver washed and gold gilded. The obverse features a silvered centrally placed massive swooping Luftwaffe eagle with outstretched wings clutching a mobile swastika in its talons. The eagle is the attached, at the wings, to a gold half laurel leaf and berry / half oak leaf and acorn wreath that is tied together at the bottom. The reverse correctly displays the soldered on tombak block hinge, and nickel-silver round wire pin and two rivets. The catch is missing and the hinge-pin may have been period replaced. The eagles face is worn and the eagle has a wiggle to it. The frosting and gilding are great! It measures 2 1/2 inches wide by 2 1/16 inches tall.
