A nice looking RAD (Reichsarbeitsdienst) Membership Stickpin here! A six (or nine - military) months conscription within the RAD was compulsory for all German citizen aged 19-25. Upon completion of service, the member would be given a lapel membership commemorative pin. It is constructed out of a die struck zink that has been painted red, white and black. The oval shaped obverse depicts a centrally placed RAD emblem, which consists of: a mobile swastika in front of a spade shovel head and is above two outward pointing wheat sheaths, which all lies on a white background and is surrounded a red pebbled border. The full back reverse is marked "Ges. Gech.". It also has a knurled stickpin to the back. The face measures approximately 5/8 of an inch wide by 7/8 of an inch tall. The paint work has minor wear. A great inexpensive item to go along nicely with your RAD collection!
