Early Hammesfahr SS Dagger

Please note this item is no longer available and you were redirected to our Archives.

Here we have an Early Model 1933 SS Dagger (Schutzstaffel Dienstdolch) by G. Hammesfahr of Solingen. An elegant example that continues to hold great features! The acid etched "Meine Ehere Heisst Treue" motto and "Gottlieb Hammesfahr Solingen" maker mark are both: dark, crisp and beautifully executed. The crossgrain is still evident but I can tell that it's been cleaned. The fit continues to remain solid! The blade rates in at Exc+/Exc++ with some age a gray. The undented steel based, black anodized scabbard looks great! It retains about 35% of it's factory lacquer. Both solid nickel scabbard fittings look great. The ball has a bump but not too bad. All four screws remain intact! The scabbard to crossguard fit is perfect and closes with a snap! The solid nickel crossguards look excellent as well. They match the scabbard fittings in color and condition. The reverse of the lower crossguard is marked "III" (Berlin). The crossguards to grip fits are perfect! The dyed black hardwood grip is in wonderful shape! It has a few microscopic flakes to the reverse lower crossguard fit but that's it! It remains split and crack free! Honestly it's hard to find them like this anymore! The solid nickel eagle has a perfect fit and retains beautiful detail! The SS runes retain 99% enamel and it has perfect fit. A beauty piece never been apart and fresh from the Vet's family awaiting your collection!
