Imperial Era Hunting Dagger by WKC

Here's one that been around! The heavily cleaned, 15 1/2 inch blade is a double etched example. The etching is quite light and faded. It depicts forests, rifles, bucks, turkeys etc. all in hunting scenes. It continues to hold a solid fit. The blade rates VG. It shows heavy age grey, oxidizing and evidence of cleaning. It is maker marked WKC behind the clamshell. The buffer pad is lost to time. The scabbard is made of wood/cardboard base material that is covered in a fine black leather. It depicts two decorative lines running the length of the scabbard on both sides. All of the stitching remains intact. It has small hits and marks and rubs. Both matching fittings have scalloped edges the lower looks more coppery. The staples are still intact. The brass hilt on this piece is really cool! The clamshell looks great with running deer design that's been hand chased! The brass ferrule and pommel both have decorative oakleaf motif. The pommel ends at a ball that is un-tampered with. The ferule has "FCCO" stamped. The round stag multi-toned grip is just beautiful! No chips or cracks! It is missing the upper decorative acorn. An early piece with tons of work into it!
