Here's we have a Model 1938 Deutsches Rotes Kreuz (German Red Cross) Hewer! The blade on this one shows wear and evidence of old finger prints, I say that and some crossgrain remains. The sharp teeth to the saw back are in perfect condition! It has a solid fit as well. The blade rates Exc+. The brown leather buffer pad remains intact. The scabbard is steel based and black enamel repainted. It shows "orangepeel" throughout. It continues to retain 99%+ paint coverage and dent-free. The nickel plated scabbard fittings have patinaed with age. Both screws continue to remain intact. The alloy based nickel-silver plated hilt looks fine with excellent plating and patina matching the scabbard. The correct checkered/smooth grip plates are in excellent condition. They are tightly secured by two steel screws. Included is a non-textbook frog, when where and who added this I have no idea but this is how it arrived and I leave it as it is. A reasonably priced dagger from the Vet's family.
