A Model 1938 - Deutsches Rotes Kreuz (German Red Cross) Hewer. The blade on this one shows age to it and someone has reshaped the tip. The saw back has perfect teeth. It is marked: “Ges. Geschutzt.” Underneath the langet. The fit is perfect. The brown leather buffer pad continues to remain intact. The steel based black enamel painted scabbard looks great! Its shows spidering throughout. It continues to retain 98%+ paint coverage and it remains completely dent free! The solid nickel-silver scabbard fittings look excellent, matching the hilt perfectly. All four screws continue to remain intact. The zinc-based nickel-silver plated hilt has matching patina but has a crack through the right side. The Third Reich red cross medallion on the crossguard has fine vaulting and detail! The obverse bakelite checkered grip plate is missing the bottom 1" and there is a small repair area there that could be black painted. A reasonable place holder.
