A good looking piece! The 9 11/16 inch long, single fuller, plated blade on this one looks excellent! The stamped "E. Pack & Sohne Solingen" maker mark is beautifully executed. The plating gives it a nice mirror like finish. The tip comes to a perfectly sharp point and the fit is nice and tight! The blade rates Exc++/NM. It shows surface scratches throughout. The brown leather buffer pad remains intact. The steel based black enamel painted scabbard looks great. It shows some spidering and wear to the ball and where the frog would have rubbed in the period. It remains completely dent free! It continues to hold 95%+ paint coverage. The throat retaining screw remains intact and the ball is perfectly round. The alloy based, nickel-silver plated hilt looks good. The platting is 99% intact. The black checkered bakelite grip plates are in near perfect condition. Both plates are tightly secured to the hilt with the textbook unique Pack spanner/ nut assembly. The obverse plate has a small chip to the lower left corner. The button continues to work well! Peek in the mortise slot and you will find an original green,(Jager) wool plug. This comes with a crazed and cracked frog. Pack bayonets are prized among collectors, this is a nice one.
