A Flak-Kampfabzeichen der Luftwaffe by Gebruder Wegerhoff of Lüdenscheid. The Luftwaffe Flak Badge was awarded to those who had participated in 3 air defense actions (with a registered kill) or 5 air defense actions (regardless of a kill) or to the battery commander if half of their troops had been awarded the badge. It is constructed out of a two-piece die struck zinc base that has been silver washed and chemically blackened. The obverse depicts an anti-aircraft gun that is surrounded by a laurel leaf wreath and is below/behind a Luftwaffe eagle, clutching a swastika in one of its talons. The reverse of the badge is correctly maker marked: “GWL”, within a circle. It also displays; a stamped hinge (tombak hinge-pin) flanked by two rivets and a steel round wire pin. The catch is a period re-placement and has since broke off and be repaired again. There is some cracking to the base of the gun. It measures 2 ½ inches tall by 1 7/8 inches wide.
