Here we have a Ehrenkreuz der Deutschen Mutter Dritte Stufe! These were awarded to mothers for exceptional merit to the German nation, who conceived and raised six to seven children and exhibited probity, exemplary motherhood. These crosses were introduced by decree in Berlin on 16 December 1938 by Chancellor of Germany (Reichskanzler) Adolf Hitler. This two piece award is made of die struck nickel silver base, that has been silver washed and includes blue, black and white enamel work. The obverse is in the form of a Christian cross and shows; a centrally place black static swastika above a white base, that is surrounded by "Der Deutschen Mutter" (The German Mother) and is in front of a sunburst pattern. The reverse shows a flat back with a recessed: "16. December 1938" along with Hitler's facsimile signature. The enamel work remains 99%+ intact and the silver wash is beautiful! The cross measures approximately 1 13/16 inches tall by 1 7/16 inches wide. It also comes with 14" of blue and white rayon ribbon. An awesome silver one!
