Here we have a Model 1939 Postal Protection Dagger by Paul Weyersberg & Co of Solingen (Postschutz Dolch für Führer). The blade on this one this one has a perfectly pointed tip, nice crossgraining, a perfect fit and a beautifully executed acid etched "Paul Weyersberg & Co Solingen" maker mark. The blade rates an Exc++. The original leather buffer pad remains intact. The steel based black enamel painted scabbard body looks great! It has the some paint scratches, likely from the chain, and retains 95%+ of its painted finish. It also remains completely dent free! The scabbard fittings show some minor scratches and are in great shape matching the hilt and chain in wear and patina! All five screws remain intact. The chain is in good condition with 9 links to the top and 12 to the bottom, ending at a broken clip. A shame I know and a relatively easy restoration. The black boiled wood grip is in excellent condition! It's chip and crack-free with common pressure marks and scuffs. The unique insignia is properly pinned, proud of the surface, just as it should be. The enamel to the swastikas is 99.9%+ intact. The bottom of the crossguard is stamped "119" and "DRP". This is a nice early example that would look great in your collection!
