West Wall Medal

These cases are post-war creations but still make for nice display. Here we have an early original die struck alloy based and bronze washed West Wall medal. The oval badge depicts an embossed profile of a German National eagle with out-stretched wings clutching a wreathed swastika in its talons, above a crossed spade shovel and broad sword, which is again above the "west wall" on a hill. This all lies on a smooth field and is surrounded by a laurel leaf pattern that is tied together at the top and bottom. The reverse of the badge depicts an embossed inscription of "Für Arbeit Zum Schutze Deutschlands" (For Work for the Protection of Defence of Germany) on a smooth field and is also surrounded by the same wreath pattern. To the top of the badge is an unmarked soldered ring which holds the 6 inch long orange and white post-war ribbon intact. The badge measures 1 5/8 inches high by 1 1/4 inches wide. Just so I'm clear, the case & ribbon are post-war, the medal is original. Overall this is a quality, detailed, inexpensive and excellent piece that is awaiting your collection!
