Early Model 1933 Sturmabteilung Dienstdolch by F.Herder A.S.of Solingen. A great piece here by a desirable maker. The bright blade on this one has been cleaned hard washing out the motto a bit. The blade also has a solid fit to the hilt, with no gaps or wiggle. The blade rates an easy Exc+/Exc++! The painted scabbard has a beautiful brown finish that looks like a factory job to me, no, not textbook but not everything is. The solid nickel scabbard fittings are near perfect. They remain tightly secured to the scabbard and retain all four screws. The ball retains its original round shape. The crossguards remain in excellent condition! The reverse of the lower crossguard is marked "OST". The scabbard / crossguard fit is perfect and closes it with a snap! The dark dark brown hardwood grip lis as good as it gets. It shows the common wear marks but no chips or cracks. The grip / crossguard fits are absolutely perfect! The solid nickel eagle retains beautiful details and has a perfect fit. The SA roundel also has a perfect fit and retains 100% of its enamel! A great piece of history that will be prized in your collection!
