A 12-Jährige Dienstzeit in der Wehrmacht (3. Klasse). The 12 Year Wehrmacht Long Service (3rd Class) was awarded for 12 years of good standing military service. It is constructed out of a die stamped steel base that has been gold gilded. The round shaped obverse depicts, in gold; a closed winged Heer eagle, clutching a swastika in its talons, below and arched: “Treue Dienste in der Wehrmacht” (Faithful Service in the Wehrmacht). The reverse depicts a “12” encircled by an oak leaf and acorn wreath that is tied together at the top and bottom. To the top is a soldered-on loop and ring which holds approximately 4 inches of folded over blue rayon ribbon. The ribbon has the appropriate steel based gold gilded eagle insignia. It is attached with two re-soldered on flat wire prongs. The award measures approximately 1 3/16 inches in diameter. A great piece!
