Field modified Fighting Knife

Nahkampfmesser This style fighting knife were used in WWI and continued to be used through WWII. This one has had a HJ diamond embedded in the obverse grip plate. Of course as with all these type field modifications it's impossible to date. The hilt has been painted black and has no cracks or chips in it. The grip plates are secured with 3 rivets. The blade unmarked and shows honest wear I have not tried to clean. The scabbard retains about 60% of original paint with some age crazing and is dent-free.
