A gorgeous M1938 - 2nd Model Kriegsmarine Dolch für Offiziere by WKC (Weyersberg, Kirschbaum & Cie.) of Solingen. This is a desirable configuration of 2nd model Navy production Daggers. It features a beautiful dark etched motif, hammered scabbard, orange trylon grip and a golden bullion knot! It doesn’t get better than this! The uncleaned etched blade on this one is excellent and provide a beautiful dark contrast to the bright blade! The stamped knights head “WKC” maker mark is also beautifully executed! The fit is perfect, as is the tip. The release button functions perfectly! The blade rates a solid Exc++. It shows some minor age from old fingerprints I have NOT tried to clean. The original red felt buffer pad remains intact. The dent-free brass based hammered scabbard looks excellent, especially with the hand enhancing on the scabbard loops! It retains both of its original side throat screws. Look at all that gilt remaining! The crossguard and pommel provide wonderful detail to the anchor and proud 1st pattern eagle perched on top. The desirable orange trylon grip looks awesome! No hits, chips or cracks! It has the correct double twisted wire wrap, that remains nice and tight. This one comes with tight and a correctly tied portepee that has a few wee frays. The original owner tied it on backwards but I prefer to leave these things as they arrive, especially since this is from the Vet's family. Peek underneath and you will see the portepee has been there forever. This one was a pleasure to photograph. It doesn't get much better than this!
