An Early Model 1933 Schutzstaffel Dienstdolch by Robert Klaas of Solingen. The blade on this one looks good. The acid etched “Meine Ehre Heißt Treue” motto and kissing kranes “Robert Klaas Solingen” maker mark are both beautifully executed. The blade is nicely seated up against the hilt and the and the tip comes to a perfect point. The blade rates Exc+/Exc++. It has been cleaned which has rid most of the spotting and has resulted in surface scratches throughout. The steel based black anodized scabbard looks excellent. There is one wee bump to the edge, visible in the second photo down. It continues to hold a beautiful dark color with 40% of its original factory lacquer still intact! The scalloped nickel-silver based scabbard fittings are in great condition. The ball has been repaired with some solder. One screw may be a replacement as it has a brass tone to it. The scabbard to crossguard fit is perfect! The nickel-silver crossguards look excellent as well, matching the crossguards perfectly in color and patina. The reverse of the lower crossguard is stamp “I” (Munich). The black died hardwood grip is typical of klaas and is in n wonderful condition! The solid nickel-silver eagle is nicely detailed with a perfect fit. The SS roundel retains 80%+ of its enamel and also has a perfect fit! This piece comes with a vertical hanger. The top strap is from a single piece SS hanger that has been added to it. The leather is quite nice. You can tell this piece has always had a vertical just by the lacquer that remains to the scabbard body in between both straps and the minor hits to the reverse of the grip from the clip. Overall this piece looks great.
