A Transitional Model 1933 Hitlerjugend Fahrtenmesser by Carl Eickhorn 1940. The ricassoed blade on this one looks great. The stamped “Eickhorn Solingen RZM M7/66” maker/RZM marks and “40” dated ricasso are all nicely executed. Some nice crossgrain remains visible as you shine it in the light. The fit continues to remain nice and tight and the tip comes to a sharp point. The blade rates an Exc++. It shows some age grey along with surface scratches throughout. The original black sealed leather buffer remains intact. The steel based Eickhorn specific black enamel painted scabbard is in nice condition. It remains dent free and holds 98% paint coverage. The hanger is a typical period repair. The button strap portion is 75% torn to the one side and the end towards the socket is torn off. The alloy based nickel-silver plated hilt retains 95% of its plating. The grip plates are damage-free black checkered bakelite. Both steel rivets remain tightly secured. The HJ diamond has 99%+ of its enamel. A good transitional Hitler Youth knife!
