Luftschutz Special Functions Ärmelbinde. These units helped to maintain order and attempted to keep panic from setting in during and after air raids so that the firefighting units could complete their tasks. It is constructed out of a blue cotton base. The obverse features a white stitched “O”. It looks as though a national eagle was stitched on it at some point, due to the non-faded area outlined by stitching holes. The top and bottom have a ¼ inch area of re-enforced stitching. The back is stitched to size. Soilage and holes throughout. It measures 7 1/8 inches wide by 3 ¾ niches tall. Textbook construction.
