A Model 1933 Sturmabteilung Dienstdolch by Malsch & Ambronn of Steinbach. The blade on this one is looks great! The acid etched “Alles fur Deutschland” motto and man at the well “Malsch & Ambronn Steinbach” maker mark are both dark, crisp and beautifully executed! The crossgrain is wonderful and easily visible as you shine it in the light. The fit is nice and tight and the tip comes to a perfect point. The blade rates an Exc++/NM. It shows the typical spotting and surface scratches throughout. The steel based brown anodized scabbard looks great. It has a heavily lacquered finish and reveals the copper flash coating to some areas. It remains dent free. The solid nickel silver scabbard fittings have nicely patinaed. The ball retains a nice round shape. All four screws remain intact. The ring is a replacement. The scabbard / crossguard fit is near perfect and closes with a snap. The reverse of the lower crossguard is Gau stamped “Sa” (Sachsen). The brown hardwood grip looks excellent. It has a wee crack above the roundel and the typical bumps/scratches throughout. The solid nickel eagle is beautifully detailed and has a perfect fit. The SA roundel also has a perfect fit and retains 99%+ of its enamel. A great example by a desirable maker!
