A Model 1934 - Sturmabteilung Ehrendolch mit Widmung by Carl Eickhorn of Solingen. Ernst Röhm Honour Daggers were granted to members of the SS and SA who either had interrupted service since December 31, 1931, or those who transferred from the Hitler Youth prior to that time. After the Night of the Long Knives, Röhm was declared a “traitor” and removal of the inscription was mandated. To have the full inscription was against Hitler’s decree, consequently making this dagger an incredibly rare and desirable piece among the collecting community…
The blade on this one looks wonderful. The acid etched “In herzlicher kameradschaft Ernst Röhm” inscription, “Alles für Deutschland” motto and serrated tail “Carl Eickhorn Solingen” maker mark are all dark, crisp and beautifully executed! The crossgrain is gorgeous, running the full length of the blade and is easily visible as you shine it in the light. It also has a perfect fit. The blade rates NM. The tip has the slightest bend to it and is 1mm short. It has the slightest spotting and the common surface scratches / runner marks. The steel based brown anodized scabbard is in excellent condition. It is completely dent free and holds 98% of its original factory lacquer. The solid nickel scabbard fittings look wonderful. The ball is perfectly round and all four screws remain intact. The scabbard to crossguard fit is perfect. The solid nickel-silver crossguards match the scabbard fittings in color and patina. It is Gau marked: “Ho” (Hoschland – in the correct location) and is bench marked: “5”. The crossguard / grip fits are perfect. The brown grained hardwood grip is in wonderful condition. It has some scratches throughout and there is a crack just above the roundel. The solid nickel eagle has excellent detail and has a perfect fit. The SA roundel retains 97%+ of its enamel and also has a perfect fit. Gorgeous matching patina throughout. These are incredibly hot right now and it is getting more and more difficult to find them.
