An Early Model 1933 Schutzstaffel Dienstdolch by Heinr. Böker & Co. of Solingen. The most desirable maker of SS daggers, known for their quality and slogan “The best is just good enough.”. The blade on this one looks good. It features the textbook etching characteristics with their unique “Meine Ehre Heißt Treue” motto and chestnut tree “Böker Solingen” maker. The blade is perfectly seated up against the crossguard and the tip comes to a perfect point. You can still see some crossgrain, as you shine it in the light. The blade rates Exc+/Exc++. It shows age grey and spotting throughout along with some minor pitting. The steel based black anodized scabbard looks good. It has been cleaned leaving surface scratches throughout the body and fittings. It remains completely dent free. The ball retains a nice round shape and all four screws remain intact. The nickel-silver crossguards look great. They have a few bumps throughout. The reverse of the lower crossguard is stamp “I” (Munich). The black died hardwood grip shows typical age with minor bumps throughout (some obvious from a vertical hanger) and one hairline crack through the roundel. The solid nickel-silver eagle is nicely detailed with a perfect fit. The SS roundel retains 99%+ of its enamel and also has a perfect fit! This piece comes with a non-textbook vertical hanger that is marked and retains nice leather. There is also a nice black belt loop attached to the well working clip. It’s getting tougher and tougher to find any SS daggers anymore!
