German WWII > Belt Buckles > Army >
A nice Army Belt Buckle by R.S. & S. It is constructed of a single piece of die struck steel that has been green painted. The obverse roundel depicts a closed winged Heer eagle griping a mobile swastika in its talons on a smooth round background. The typical Sieper eagle is above a half oak leaf and acorn wreath that is tied together at the bottom and is underneath the Heer motto reading: "Gott Mit Uns" (God with us). The wreath and motto are both in front of a decorative lined type pattern which is encircled by two twisted ropes. The roundel lies on a smooth rectangular backing. The reverse is clearly maker marked to the back: "R.S. & S." (Richard Sieper & Sohne, Lüdenscheid). The steel painted prongs and catch remain intact. It shows oxidization and wear throughout. 90% paint remains. It measures approximately 2 1/2 inch wide by 1 7/8 inches high.
