A 1st pattern SA (Sturmabteilung) Koppelschloß, introduced in the early 1920's. It is considered by many the be the Overhoff design. It is constructed out of a die stamped brass base that has been bronze washed and burnished. The obverse depicts a centrally placed roundel which consists of; an embossed open winged SA eagle griping a wreathed sunwheel swastika in its talons on a smooth background, that is above a half oak leaf and acorn wreath, that is in front of a decorative line type pattern which is encircled by two twisted ropes. The roundel lies on a smooth rectangular background. The reverse shows a soldered on catch and an oxidized steel pin/post sleeve and prong assembly. It measures 2 ½ inch wide by 2 inches high. It shows wear to the high spots. A good example!
