Reichswehr Army Belt Buckle

A wonderful Reichswehr of the Weimar Republic Army Belt Buckle here! This buckle would have been issued to the limited Weimar Republic 100,000 man army in the 1920's and early 1930's. The rectangle buckle is constructed of a die struck nickel base that has silver washed and black burnished. The obverse roundel depicts an embossed national Weimar Republic eagle on a round smooth background. The eagle is above a half laurel leaf and berry wreath that is tied together at the bottom and underneath the Army motto reading: "GOTT MIT UNS" (God with us). The wreath and motto are in front of a decorative line type pattern which is encircled by two twisted ropes. The roundel lies on a pebbled rectangular backing. The nickel prongs and soldered on nickel catch remain in near perfect condition. It measures approximately 2 ½ inch wide by 2 inches high. The condition and details throughout are wonderful! A quality early piece!
