A Hitlerjugend Leistungsabzeichen in Iron by RZM M1/34 (Karl Wurster, Markneukirchen). The Hitler Youth Proficiency Badge was instituted in June 1934 and was awarded to HJ members who successfully passed a four-part aptitude test in athletics (sports), shooting (air-rifle), field exercises and political knowledge. The iron class was awarded to DJ and HJ members up to the age of 15, the bronze class was awarded to sixteen year old HJ members and the silver class was awarded to seventeen year old HJ members. It is constructed out of a die-struck cupal base that has been silver plated. The obverse depicts an off centered mobile swastika that is encircled by: “Für Leistungen in der H.J.” (For Proficiency in the H.J.) above a Tyr-rune. The full back reverse features a soldered-on round plate holding a broken pin assembly. It is marked "B" and "RZM 1/63". It measures 2 inches high by 1 3/16 inches wide. A reasonable price for a damaged award.
