A Transitional Model 1933 Hitlerjugend Fahrtenmesser by Carl Eickhorn of Solingen 1939. The thick ricassoed blade on this one looks excellent. The stamped “Eickhorn Solingen RZM M7/66” maker/RZM marks and “39” dated ricasso are all beautifully executed. Traces of crossgrain remains visible as you turn it in the light. The tip comes to a perfect point. The blade rates Exc++/NM. There is age grey, spotting and surface scratches throughout. There is also the slightest wiggle to the blade. The original black sealed leather buffer remains intact. The steel based black enamel repainted scabbard looks excellent. The scabbard body remains dent-free and retains 98% of its original painted finish. It has two scabbard runners. The black tanned leather scabbard hanger is in wonderful condition. The snap continues to work well. The alloy based nickel-silver plated hilt retains 98%+ of its plated finish. The grip plates are damage-free black checkered presstof. Both steel rivets remain tightly secured. The large HJ diamond has 99%+ of its enamel. Overall, a fine example.
