U.S. Army Achievement Medal
The Achievement Medal was first proposed as a means to recognize the contributions of junior officers and enlisted personnel. The United States Army issued their own versions of the Army Achievement Medal in 1981. Effective 11 September 2001, the Army Achievement Medal may be awarded in a combat area. The Good Conduct Medal is one of the oldest military awards of the United States Armed Forces. The Army Good Conduct Medal was established by Executive Order 8809, dated 28 June 1941, and authorized the award for soldiers completing three years active service after that date.
