Always love when I get my own pieces back! Wow what a super, textbook, top-quality piece by GWL! The badge features a two-piece, tombak, gold gilded eagle and zinc silver plated/blackened wreath. The obverse depicts a bright gold gilded diving Luftwaffe eagle, clutching a swastika within its talons, and is surrounded by a blackened/silver laurel/oak leaf wreath. The badge features the correct measurements and is completely non-magnetic, as it should be. The reverse has the correct integral hinge and catch, along with the S shape pin, deep rivets and beautifully executed "GWL" (Gebruder Wegerhoff, Ludenscheid) maker mark! The bright golden eagle provides a wonderful contrast to the dark wreath. The details to the wings and wreath are absolutely beautiful! Look at the mirror like gold gilded swastika nice and bright, and exactly how GWL did this! There is one spot to the top wing and some minor scratches to the reverse near the maker mark. See page 262 of Durante's Paratrooper Badge reference. Textbook! This one is not cheap and it will sell! One badge that you can't afford to pass up!
