A great example purchased from Vet’s nephew by me. Here we have a 1943 pattern, die struck, zinc based, bronze washed 2nd Class Order of the German Eagle. The obverse of the round award features a centrally placed embossed Maltese style cross, with four national eagles to each corner of the cross. The reverse reads: "Deutsche Verdienst Medaille" (German Merit-Medal). The ring is marked "38” (Unknown). Attached to the ring is approximately 1 1/2 inches of folded red, black and white rayon ribbon. Stitched to the top of the ribbon is a steel well-working pin. What a cool looking award!
