SS Dagger by RZM 1196/38 SS

Here we have a Model 1933 SS Dagger (Schutzstaffel Dienstdolch) by RZM 1196/38 SS - Edward Wüsthof Dreizackwerk of Solingen 1938. The blade on this one looks great. The acid etched "Meine Ehre Heißt Treue" motto and "RZM 1196/38 SS" (Edward Wüsthof Dreizackwerk, Solingen) SS contract number are both nicely executed! Notice the ?E' in Ehre, it has the dipping tip that's exactly how it's supposed to be on this maker. The tip comes to a perfect point! The blade rates Exc++. It has a wiggle to the fit, and shows age grey/spotting and surface scratches throughout. The steel based black painted enamel scabbard on this one looks excellent! The scabbard body is steel based and black enamel painted. It is in excellent condition having; a beautiful dark finish, 99% paint coverage and it remains completely dent free! The steel based nickel-silver plated scabbard fittings look great. Typical bubbling throughout. They retain 90%+ plating coverage. The ball remains perfectly round and all four screws remain intact. The scabbard to hilt fit is perfect and closes with a snap! The zinc-alloy based nickel-silver plated crossguards look great matching the scabbard fittings perfectly. The grip to crossguard fits could be better and this is typical for later rzm daggers. The black died hardwood grip is in great shape. It has common pressure marks and a hairline crack just above the roundel. The aluminum eagle is nicely detailed and has a perfect fit. The SS roundel retains 99% of its enamel and also has a perfect fit! SS daggers are hot right now. I can't seem to keep them here!
