A fine Infanterie-Sturmabzeichen here! The Silver Infantry Assault Badge was awarded to foot infantrymen who had taken part in combat action on different days and met the required award criteria. It is constructed out of a die struck zinc base that has been silver washed. The oval shaped obverse depicts a rifle and bayonet below a Heer closed winged eagle clutching a mobile swastika within its talons. This is all surrounded by an acorn and oak leaf wreath that is tied together at the bottom. The full back reverse is unmarked along with a soldered on round plate wire catch, soldered on sheet metal hinge and round wire pin. All the hardware is nonmagnetic. There is surface bubbling and the details continue to display wonderfully! It measures approximately 2 1/2 inches tall by 1 7/8 inches wide. See page 92 of Sascha Weber's "The Infantry Assault Badges". Cool!
