Here we have a Médaille d'honneur du travail awarded to M.P. Gromest in 1926. This medal was awarded for 20 years of honorable work and service. It is constructed out of a die stamped silver base.The obverse depicts Marianne, a national symbol of the French Republic, and a portrayal of the Goddess of Liberty. The reading "Française Republique" (French Republic) surrounds her and to the bottom there is a signature "Borrel", which is the signature of the engraver, A. Borrel. The full back reverse depicts the Caduceus of Commerce, an ivy branch (symbol of friendship), a laurel branch (symbol of merit), a torch, and banners reading "Honneur Travail" (Honor Work). It reads "Ministère du Commerce de L'industrie" (Ministry of Commerce Industry), as well as "Borrel" to the bottom, and is personally engraved "M.P. Gromest 1926". It measures 1 1/8 inches in diameter. A fine piece!
